The metal plates on top of the E30, E36, E46, Z3, and Z4 rear shock towers share a well-documented weakness — the factory metal is prone to tearing over time, particularly under strong impacts or on vehicles with uprated suspension. This complete rear upper shock mounting kit addresses both the structural and performance shortfalls of the factory setup in a single installation. The 3mm high-strength steel reinforcement plates prevent tearing at the shock tower, while the 85A polyurethane bushings eliminate the deflection that causes vague rear damping, rear end knocking, and loss of shock absorber positioning under load. A low NVH impact design makes this kit equally suitable for daily driven street cars and modified performance builds running uprated shock valving and coilover systems.
Features:
- 3mm high-strength steel reinforcement plates prevent rear shock tower metal from tearing under sustained impact and load
- 85A polyurethane bushings eliminate factory shock mount deflection under load – keeping the rear shock absorber correctly positioned for proper damping operation
- Low NVH impact design – performance improvement without excessive harshness for street-driven applications
- Polyurethane offers lower compression variability, high stability, shock and ageing resistance compared to standard rubber
- Eliminates rear end knocking caused by worn or degraded factory rubber shock mount bushings
- 10mm inner sleeve diameter – compatible with OE and a wide range of aftermarket coilover systems

Contents:
- 1x Pair Complete Rear Upper Shock Mounting Kit
- 3mm High-Strength Steel Reinforcement Plates included
- 85A Polyurethane Bushings included
- All necessary mounting hardware included
Benefits:
- Provides comprehensive protection against the well-known rear shock tower tearing weakness on these platforms
- Eliminates rear shock mount deflection and rear end knocking in a single kit installation
- Low NVH increase makes this a practical upgrade for daily driven and street-oriented builds
- Most beneficial on modified suspensions with uprated shock valving where factory mount deflection is most pronounced
- Complete kit removes the need to source reinforcement plates and bushings separately
Installation Notes:
- The 10mm sizing refers to the inner diameter of the shock mount sleeve – measure the OD of the top threaded portion of your shock absorber before ordering to confirm correct fitment
- OE shock shaft diameter is 10mm – aftermarket shocks vary and must be measured individually
- For 12mm shock shaft applications (Tein, MCS, JRZ, Ohlins, TC Kline S/A or D/A) a 12mm variant is required – this listing is 10mm only
- E30 M3 fitment note: factory seam sealant around the rear shock mounting area may prevent the reinforcement plate from sitting completely flat – minor plate modification may be required to accommodate manufacturing tolerances on this specific model
- Not compatible with BMW E36 / E46 318ti or any convertible body styles
- If unsure about your shock shaft diameter, contact our team or verify directly with your shock absorber manufacturer before ordering
Warranty:
- 12-month standard warranty from date of purchase
- Contact our support team for assistance with any issues
